Podcast studio · Emerald · Enquiries open
The podcast you keep meaning to start.
There’s a podcast studio at CH CoLab in Emerald. We’ll help you work out what the show is, record it, and get it published — or point you straight at the room if you’d rather run it yourself.

№ 01 · Two ways in
Book the room, or book the help.
They're separate things, and it's worth knowing which one you want before you start.
Just the room
You already know what you’re doing
You want somewhere quiet to record and you’ll handle the rest. The studio belongs to CH CoLab and so does the booking — go straight to them, it’s the quickest route.
CH CoLab is run by Central Highlands Community Services. What the space earns goes back into their community programs.
The room and us
You want the finished thing
You want help shaping the idea, someone running the session so you can concentrate on talking, and the episode edited and published at the end of it. That’s the part we do.
Take the whole thing or any part of it. Nothing is locked in at enquiry stage.
№ 02 · Doing it yourself
You could do this yourself.
Plenty of people do, and some of them should. Here's the honest version.
The gear was never the hard part. You can book the room at CH CoLab, sit down in front of a microphone and be recording this week. If you’ve got the time and you quite like the fiddly bits, that’s a genuinely good option — and we’ll tell you so.
What stops most podcasts isn’t the recording. It’s episode four. It’s the edit sitting in a folder for three weeks. It’s working out halfway through that nobody ever decided who the show was for, so every episode is about something slightly different.
That’s the part we take. You keep the bit only you can do — knowing your subject and being yourself in a room — and hand over the planning, the running of the session, the edit and the publishing. It stays your show. You’re just not carrying all of it.
The hard part was never the microphone.
Take the whole thing, or just the parts you’d rather not do.
№ 03 · What we help with
Planning through to published.
Four steps. Most people start somewhere in the middle and work outwards from there.
i.
Plan it
What the show is, who it's for, what you actually talk about, and how many episodes before you stop. Most podcasts die at this step, so it's where we start.
ii.
Record it
In the studio at CH CoLab, with someone running the session so you can concentrate on the conversation instead of the buttons.
iii.
Edit it
Cut the stumbles, even out the audio, put a top and tail on it. It should sound like you on a good day.
iv.
Publish it
Artwork, episode notes, out to the podcast apps, and short clips you can share afterwards.
№ 04 · Who it's for
Who belongs in there.
№ 01
Businesses
Talk about what you already know. It's the straightest way to sound like the expert you are, to people who can actually buy from you.
№ 02
Community groups
The studio sits inside a community space, so community work belongs in it — clubs, not-for-profits, volunteer groups.
№ 03
Anyone with a series in them
A season on the district, a trade, a sport, a stretch of local history. If it's worth listening to, it's worth recording properly.
№ 05 · What it's like
You turn up and talk.
The bit everyone pictures is the microphone. The bit that actually decides whether a podcast happens is everything either side of it — and that's the part you hand over.
i.
You stop carrying it around
It's been in your head for months. One conversation turns it into a plan — what the show is, who it's for, and the first few episodes written down instead of rattling around.
ii.
You turn up and talk
No cables, no levels, no watching a timer. Someone else runs the room. You have the conversation you'd have had anyway, and it gets recorded properly.
iii.
You become the one with the podcast
It comes back finished and goes out. Your customers hear you think. People who'd never have rung you know what you're about before they walk in — and it keeps working long after the day you recorded it.
№ 06 · Common questions
The things people actually ask.
Including the ones nobody wants to say out loud.
What actually is a podcast?
An audio show people listen to when it suits them — in the car, on the tractor, doing the dishes. Usually built around a conversation, a topic or a story. Think radio, except it waits for them.
Do I need to be good at talking?
No. The people who come across well on a podcast are usually just people who know their subject and forget the microphone is there. Getting you to that point is most of what someone is doing in the room with you.
How many episodes should we do?
Fewer than you're picturing, usually. We'd rather help you finish a short run you're proud of than start a long one that quietly stops after episode three. That's a conversation we'll have with you before anything gets booked.
Can we just do part of it?
Yes. Take the whole thing or any piece of it. Some people want help with the plan and nothing else. Some have the idea sorted and just want the recording run and the edit handled.
Do we have to come to Emerald?
For the studio, yes — the room is at CH CoLab on King Street. If getting there isn't workable, say so in your enquiry and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help another way.
Is it only for businesses?
No. Community groups, clubs and not-for-profits are genuinely welcome. The studio sits inside a community space, and that's the spirit it gets used in.
Where does it end up?
Wherever people already listen — Spotify, Apple Podcasts and the rest. You also get short clips to share, which is usually where people actually find it in the first place.
№ 07 · Enquire
Start the conversation.
No obligation, and nothing booked by sending it. Tell us the idea and we'll tell you how we'd make it.
The three questions in the middle are the ones that matter — how much help you want, who’s asking, and how soon. They tell us what we’d be building with you.
A real person reads it. We’ll usually come back with a question or two — what the show’s for, how many episodes you’re picturing — and then we’ll tell you exactly how we’d make it happen.
If you’d rather just email, that works too: hello@tshmediagroup.com.au.
